Notice of Annual General Meeting 2018

Dear ASG Members,

On behalf of the Executive Committee, I am pleased to invite you to the 2018 Annual General Meeting of the Alberta Society of Gastroenterology. The Alberta Medical Association’s Section of GI may also have sent you a similar notice, as we will hold the Section AGM concurrently.

The meeting will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2018 both in-person and by videoconference. Details for attending in either capacity are as follows:

All attendees are asked to register prior to the AGM. Please use the online RSVP form at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CKYM295 to let us know whether you are attending, and from which site.

The AGM will follow the conclusion of the Calgary Colonoscopy and Polypectomy Symposium at 3:30 PM. A telehealth videoconference link will be set up in order to connect the FMC Auditorium with four sites in Edmonton.

Attending via Telehealth Videoconference

1. Telehealth Locations
Four sites in Edmonton have been arranged for access to the AGM via telehealth:

  • Edmonton Grey Nuns Hospital - Admin  Conference Room 1716
  • Edmonton Misericordia Community Hospital – Room 3N-39
  • Edmonton Royal Alexandra Hospital – Robbins Pavilion Room 2S057
  • Edmonton University of Alberta Hospital Walter Mackenzie Centre – Room 5C1.19

If you would like to attend from another site in Alberta, please contact us at ASG@buksa.com. We may be able to arrange additional sites for participants.

2. Participation Details – How you will interact with the AGM presenters
Those accessing the AGM through telehealth will be able to view a video feed of the podium and hear an audio feed of the presenters and any audience members who ask a question or make a motion (they will be given a mic).

Your room will also be set up with a microphone to allow you to ask questions or raise motions..

3. Viewing AGM PowerPoint Slides
Numbered AGM PowerPoint slides will be sent by email on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. You may print these and follow along during the meeting. Slides will also be posted on this page.

Please note: new regulations brought in by the Alberta Medical Association have now mandated the separation of section and society business. Two separate but consecutive AGMs will be held starting in 2018.

AGM Voting

All voting for the AGM will be done through the Sli.do platform, including for in-person attendees. To place your votes, kindly use your mobile devices or laptops to join us at www.sli.do and type in the event code J344. You will be asked to validate that you are an AMA GI Section/ASG member by typing in your name. Live polls will appear for motions and you can select “Yes” or “No”.

Use of Sli.do will be reviewed for all participants at the start of the AGM.

Election of Officers and Directors

The following positions are up for renewal at this year’s AGM. If you are interested in putting your name forward for any of these positions, please email ASG@buksa.com.
