Honorary Members

No fee for life

Full Members - GI Section Member: No Fee | Non-GI Section Member: $100
  • Eligibility: Active physicians who are practicing in the field of gastroenterology and who are also members in good standing of the Alberta Medical Association Gastroenterology (GI) Section, including active and associate members.  

Full Members are voting Members who are eligible for election to the Board and to serve on its committees and attend the general meetings of the Members.

Associate Members - Physician: $100 | Other Health Professional: $25
  • Non-GI physicians and other health care professionals with an interest in digestive health, who are also Members in good standing of their regulatory bodies in Alberta.

  • Nurse Practitioners and Other health professionals with an interest in digestive health who are Members in good standing of their professional regulatory bodies in Alberta (ie. nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, researchers, etc.)

  • Individuals who have retired from being an active physician in Alberta or who has retired from one of the other above health care professions in Alberta would qualify as an Associate Member. 

Associate Members are non-voting Members and are eligible to attend general meetings of the Members and serve on Board committees


Allied Members - Physician: $100 | Other Health Professional: $25
  • Qualified individuals residing or practicing outside of Alberta: GI Physicians, non- GI physicians and other health care professionals (nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, researchers and such others) with an interest in digestive health.
  • Individuals who have retired from being an active physician outside of Alberta or who have retired from one of the other above health care professions outside of Alberta.

Allied Members have access to education and information from the Society but are non-voting Members and not eligible to attend general meetings of the Members.


Trainee Members - No fee

This membership category is for medical students, residents, and fellows who are training in the field of gastroenterology.

Trainee Members have access to education and information from the Society but are non-voting Members and are eligible to attend general meetings of the Members and serve on Board committees.


Honorary Members - No fee for life

This membership category is for any other individuals designated by the Board in appreciation for and recognition of their wisdom and/or contributions to the Organization.

Honorary Members are non-voting Members who are eligible to attend general meetings of the Members.
